Hydrocolloids

Seaweed-derived hydrocolloids are carbohydrates obtained from different species of algae from various regions of the world. They are used for food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical and industrial applications and are valued for their gelling, thickening and stabilizing properties. All applications are strictly regulated with stringent specifications related to purity. Therefore, all of the hydrocolloids represented by the Association are high quality products that comply with the requirements of the Codex Alimentarius, European and U.S. regulations and the various Pharmacopoeias.

Hydrocolloid farming is an example of sustainable aquaculture that does not require any fresh water or arable land.
